  • Bright transluscent pink in the glass, slightly cloudy. Sour fermented nose with a hint of muddled strawberries and rhubarb. Bright and zingy on the palate. Light with a faint spritz. Fermented tang, some red fruit, and a sour, drying finish. Amazingly alive and fresh. Well balanced, but this is very much a funky, natural wine, and not for everyone!

If you've ever had Les Frères Soulier wines, there is a clear similarity—particularly the light, poulsard-like reds—but these Matassa wines have much more vim and vigour. Not sure it's better, per sé, but different. This wine has a lot of tang!

  • 60% Grenache Gris and 40% Macabeu from an isolated 0.5ha parcel. Macerated for one month and then aged in an amphora. 10.5%.

The perfumed sour red fruit, the freshness... it drinks so well right now, I just love it! So unique but so delicious.

There is some noticeable grip though. There is also some VA but for me it just uplifts the fruit in a good way.

Holds very well in an open bottle till the next day.
