This wine has come into its own in the last couple years. Oak and dark fruit on the nose, the palate is pure California Cab. One of the best I have drank in a long time. Very good effort.

Nicely balanced California Cab. Dark berries and a hint of oak on the nose, with the tannins and fruit working together on the palate. Finish seemed short, but good.

Bordering on brooding and complex, but this is no vin de garde. Somewhat lacking on the mid-palate. Ruby purple to the rim. Dark fruit, nicely integrated oak, firm but smooth. Worth the $120 they are asking at the winery? Hell no! But, if you are willing to spend this much anyway for an '03 SLV you might as well go for the 1A over the regular SLV as it is slightly more concentrated, round and complex for only $10 more. Also better than the '03 Fay. This vintage of SLV and FAY will mature quickly.
