  • I think I was the first one to taste this and it showed some reduction on the nose in the form of sulfur. Ripe lemon and a chalky seltzer note. It reminded me of a white burgundy. The finish was short and mid palate was a bit hollow. So it wasn't a very good white burgundy. LOL

Surprisingly this sat on the lees for almost 11 years. I'm not sure what value that amount of time brings to a champagne. Is there difference between 5 years and 10 years? I don't know.

  • Paul's Annual Champagne Tasting (2023 edition, all from Magnum) (At Paul's Place): Disgorged November 2017, which means if I got the data right, this is on the lees over a decade. More than half from Cramant, with about a third from Chouilly and the small remainder from Cuis. 4 grams of dosage. This is a wine that expresses the lemony quality of the CdB, of its Chardonnay so very well. The lemon has a decadence, a perceived weight that I enjoyed because the wine remains fresh, even for what is approaching 20 years old. Green apple, too. Brig, who was seated next to me tasting it ,told me that it reminded him of White Burg, and I can definitely see that impression. When this warmed up some more, the texture does fatten, with some slate and light lime flavor. Kind of a wine that flushes over the palate. Enjoyed this a lot.
