I appreciated this bottle much more than the last (maybe bottle shock?). This is a rustic, dirty pinot, with a cloudy ruby/purple color, a great, earthy nose with nice cherry and raspberry. A little cola on the finish as well. Had this blind against several cheaper pinots, and despite its flaws, it was clearly the standout.
Drink now. 87 -JRS

Typical new world Pinot aromas and flavors, lacking the depth and complexity I would expect from a wine at this price point. Richard Jennings hit the nail on the head by calling this "flat". I like to see vibrant acidity in a young pinot carrying the fruit from the front to the finish, but this acidity just shows up as a harsh heat on the very back end. Perhaps it's just a little out of place right now and needs some time on its side.
Day two and this wine has fallen apart. Smells a bit oxidized; a bit fuller in the mouth with substantially cranberry, followed by some bitter cola notes on the back end. Still a little harsh on the finish.
Make some room in your cellar this holiday season by 'regifting' these bottles to someone you don't care for. 80 -JRS
