I've been very patient, waiting almost 3 and a half years from release to open my first bottle and was well rewarded. Beautifully classic nose of red berries, red cherry and mineral qualities. Medium bodied (13.5% ABV) with red cherry and red berries the dominant fruit notes. There's a lot of complexity here with brighter upfront notes and deeper, rounder notes through the middle. Mid-body has that elegance and purity of fruit, coupled with definition that's always marked the best wines from Chanin. Mineral notes, fine grained tannins, acidity and tart red fruits on the backside and through a lengthy finish. To me, this wine was classic Chanin, showcasing mineral and acidity accented red fruits along with purity and definition through the middle. Over the years, the winery's style has moved somewhat towards the richer, more fruit driven style (some of that of course is simply climate driven), so for the first "Reserve" to be in the classic style was a very happy surprise. It was a real pleasure to drink this wine and it should be able to hold this level or even improve slightly over the next few years. Next bottle for me in June/July 2024.

Lovely wine from Gavin of which I believe he produced one barrel. Was very pleasing on the palate with a light mouthfeel that was so enjoyable. Will be interesting to see how it evolves and glad I have a few more bottles!
