I have had two bottles of this in the past week. The first was the best of the lot thus far. Good expression of apple, guava, and a bit of tart acidity. Yet, there is still an underlying greenness and bitterness (like biting into an apple or peach seed) that is unpleasant, but not as pronounced as in other bottles. This first bottle, if pressed, I would score as 88. The second bottle, which I finished last night, was about as bad as they get. The unpleasant attributes far outweighed the fruit. 75pts. This is indicative of the wild bottle variation that I find in most dN wines.

Punches way above its price point. This is a heavier Chardonnay with moderate but pronounced Oak. If oak isn't your thing, this isn't the wine for you. I prefer some oak, so I really like this wine. Given that we're drinking this wine during its youth, it needs some air time to open up.

Wow, there is a LOT of bottle variation in this wine. I have had some bottles that were close to awful and one or two that were stellar. On the whole, this is a very disappointing wine. Other de Negoce chardonnays (No. 23) are drinking much better, but this No. 12 is sketchy. This particular bottle, that I drank over 3 days, has the same over-oaked, green/stemmy, and bitter qualities that have marred most of the other bottles I've tried. I get a raging headache within 30 minutes of having a glass or two. But, no problems with other bottles. I'd say the proportion is 3 "bad" bottles for every "good" one. I still have another 14, so will hold several for a year or so to see if things settle down. In the meantime, I'll be enjoying the No. 23.

First tasting of this one. Clear and pale lemon in color. Clean and youthful nose with M+ intensity aromas of juicy fruit, lemon and banana. Dry, M+ acid, high ABV, M+ body with M+ intensity flavors of lemon, nectarine, butterscotch and toast with a M+ finish. Very good quality, can drink now but has potential for aging (not a lot but should improve over the next 1-3 years).
