  • Fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and concrete vats, this iteration of Baron de Brane was then aged for 12 months in French oak barriques (20-30% new). A blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 1% Carmenère, it is a deep-to-opaque crimson wine with a ripe aromatic array of dark bramble fruits, crème de cassis, licorice, bittersweet chocolate, Asian spices and violets. Medium-bodied, fresh, judiciously oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14%), it delivers black fruit, spice and savory herb flavors that are buttressed with medium-weight, silky-textured tannins. Nicely dense in the middle, it moves on to a medium-to-long, lifted finish. This "second-stringer" cannot compete with its ethereal 2019 Grand Vin sibling, but it is a terrific Margaux at an equally terrific price. This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and allowed three hours in carafe prior to serially tasting over a two-hour period, during which time it was aromatically stable. If possible, give it plenty of air. Drink now-2034.

  • Dried Cherry on nose. Lighter on body and has a bit of olive notes. Murky

  • Too young, of course, but extremely tasty with a sound backbone of blackberries, mint, notes of tobacco, very sound and clean fruit. Can be approached in it's youth, but I really think, one should wait for this - give it five years, and it will shine.

  • Beau petit Bordeaux.
Sur les fruits rouges et le cèdre.
    Un peu de fumée aussi,
Les tannins sont serrés et la
    finale est sur le choclolat.
    Bien.

  • Smoky, forest floor, cedar, herbs, and savory red fruits come through in the nose. On the palate, the wine is elegant, soft, fresh, and fruit. This is already so easy to drink, with its silky-textured, plummy palate, you can enjoy it today and over the next decade or longer while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. Drink from 2022-2031.
