Dinner with Maggie Harrison (Antica Terra / Lillian), Drinking her Great Wine + Great French Wine (Formento's - Chicago IL): Open an hour before serving. Ripe and rich black and red cherry with background spice and lots of structure that ever-so-slightly masks some of the enjoyment today. At the same time, the wine's power and potential clearly come through. Shows lots of young Vosne character, while also very "2005" in structure and backwardness. I don't think Christophe produces this wine any longer.

Dinner with Maggie Harrison (Formentos - Chicago, IL): Bright and pure aromas of ripe red cherries with a hint of spice lurking beneath. The palate also features intensely pure red cherry fruit that is still fairly wound up in its acid structure. Nice polish and I don't feel any grittiness in the tannin. All the components are here and in balance -- should age well. Needs another 5+ years. 91-92+

Already a brown rim. To the eye there is some cranberry in the bright crimson. Cherry and chocolate in a sweet mature nose. Round tannins. A rich wine but lacks a sustained finish. Ready to drink and very enjoyable.

Rust red with a hint of brown. Sweet raspberry confectionary nose. Wild strawberries, raspberries, and sour red plum. Delicate and delicious.

From 375. Approachable on opening, though this really started to tighten up at the 1 hour mark. Still has a while to go, even in this format.
