For $15 you really cannot he disappointed with this wine which is why I rated an 89 I think the vintage also helped woth the up in quality here vs in the past.
Sight: surprising concentration medium + staining medium ruby color
Nose: The nose expresses the Shiraz and Aussie character of black and blue fruits plum and Blueberry nutra-grain bar in the best way! I also got that slight scorched earth or meaty Shiraz character it’s light and in the background fruit purity is good though took awhile to come into itself this needs to be decanted.
Palate: Contiguous with the nose def needs a decant time helps a lot here….. Beautiful structure nice tannins good acid to lift the black and blue ripe fruit and the heavy spice on the nose i surprisingly subtle and warming on the mid-palate and finish.
OVERALL: I put this in a line up of similarly priced Cali cabs this was clearly the best quality wine all were the 2018 vintage. This was not the favorite overall (it was mine) but everyone agreed it was the highest quality wine. Exceptional year reflects on this wine surprising tannin structuring and balance for a wine of this price way better than past vintages!
