Drank this 17 yr old beauty last night. One of my fav CdP producers. This was still drinking young, took a couple hours to open up. Tannins still grippy. 15% abv and wish it had been less. 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 5% Vaccarese, 5% not listed on label. blackberry licorice cherry leather oak savory.

Random wines tasted during service (Oinoscent): Decant 19.20 tasting 19.50 In the nose, the wine shows medium to high intensity, earthy, ripe black fruit, cherries, berries, sweet spice frame, clove, whole spice, some herbal notes, gets better and denser with time and air in the glass, licorice herbal notes In the palate, the wine shows a more developed character, earthier, dusty tannins, coffee notes, herbal notes, alcohol warmth despite only being 13%, medium body, decadent, medium to long finish A different expression compared to the last bottle I had which was much more fruity and fresh

Recently had the 2010 vintage and was looking forward to trying the 2006. Interesting experience with this bottle. At 17 years I didn't think it would require a decant. At first the wine tasted like it was past it's peak but surprisingly after 3 hours open the last glass was much better. Glad I can use this knowledge when I open the second bottle I purchased. leather, blackberry, cherry, smoke, earthy, clove, mushroom.

Hmmm, I just don’t get this wine. Others rate it much higher— a generous view IMO.
The nose is full of prunes, the mid palate is thin and it is clipped on the finish.
Over two nights there was little change nor any inclination the wine is going places.
Drink up.
