  Dark berry fruit, still strong tannins, long aftertaste and well integrated acidity. Needs an hour after opening. Drink up, while still lively

  {cork, 12.5%} Garnet, with a faintly bricking rim. Beautiful maturing cabernet nose; tobacco, smoke, cassis, blackberries. Vaguely herby, but not in the least green. The palate is fairly generous, but there's a 'very cabernet' austerity and restraint about it, to the point where it's fairly clear the rather astringent, powdery tannins will outlive everything else. It coats the tongue pretty well, although the mid-palate's not exactly lavish; it's medium bodied with a medium length finish. Sings happily with a protein-based meal; it's not really a cocktail wine however. I guess that makes it old-fashioned, along with its alcohol; overall it's an authentic cabernet which ought to be drunk before it turns 15 for maximum enjoyment.
