Decanted for approximately 30 minutes and drank over 5 hours…Bright, berry fruit to open, with some sour cherries in the mix, and a nice acidic pop, yet still smooth and easy to drink. Not at all oaky or heavy, this is clearly a well crafted wine that's drinking very nicely now, with room for improvement, given its sweet but intact tannin backbone. Not sure it quite lives up to its price point, but a very good wine.

This 2018 Paul Lato iL Padrino Syrah from the Bien Nacido Vineyards is one of the Jeb Dunnuck perfectly scored 100 Point wines in the cellar, and he rated it #19 wine in the world. The wine was amazingly smooth and balanced with a very long finish. The acid, dark blue and black berrie flavors, tannins, minerals, and oak were all integrated with precision. This wine will only continue to get better with time.

Dark and opaque; smoky black fruit aromas. Very concentrated black fruit flavors but still too young. Moderate tannin and alcohol. Will be great but wait another year to try another. Ric

Still could use a few years and I prefer the 2016 still. Perhaps time will change my opinion.
