Showed a bit more verve than the previous bottle - tannins were firmer, fruit was bolder. Got mellower over the course of the evening. A nice cali cab in its maturity.

Has reached a point of mellow elegance that is so NOT what most Cali cabs are about today. Drinks almost like a merlot - smooth and well settled. Still has a notable tannic presence that indicates to me even more cellar time would be fine. But if you're looking for an elegant cab for tonight, this is a great place to go.

After opening the wine and pouring an oz. or so into my glass to make sure it wasn't tainted (which it wasn't), I was overwhelmed by a nose of roast-beef and wet leather.
After 10 minutes in the glass, I decided I wanted to see it unfold so I put it in the decanter for 1/2 hour.
The wine was consumed over 3 days and it clearly strutted its stuff on day 3. Were I to have rated the wine on day 1, I would have given it an 85, for merely being still alive. I'm so glad I had the patience to observe this over 72 hours, as it exceeded expectations.
This wine was part of my regular (past) vintage analysis. I was not expecting such a lovely wine from a vintage that the mainstream press generally panned.
Drink through 2009.
