Once again, the Gravelly vineyard is the sweet spot for me of all the Diamond Creek wines. This is fully mature and really sumptuous with almost a meaty texture. Mature and even a bit decadent but showing great complexity on the finish with notes of graphite minerals and cedar spice. Wow!

Deep dark garnet in color with ever so slight clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive, complex nose of dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & mineral notes, floral notes of violets, minty, leather, tobacco, dark cocoa, spices, herbs & a hint of cedar in the background. Full bodied, with a good concentration of well balanced & silky smooth textured, plush, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, herbs, cocoa & minerals. Long lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 41 years of age it is at its pinnacle of development although if cellared properly, it may hold for a bit longer. Cork was clean & intact with the fill level at mid-neck.

Had it over at dinner with family at Teller's Restaurant on Long Island. It was the only remaining bottle they had from their old "vault". As a traditional Bordeaux drinker, this Napa Cab was outstanding at 36 years of age. Lots of fruit, completely rounded tannins and super mouth full. Could very well take a First Growth. Too bad it is gone!

Great googly moogly - a 32 year old wine still loaded with delicious fruit, plenty of acid and tannin. Winner!
