Pop and poured to the expected inky dark purple with black flashes. Wine offers dark black fruit, plum, blackberry and perhaps a touch of sweeter cherry on the nose initially. On the palate the fruit is joined by a black licorice and some herbal sage/clove. Light florals on this one, but not the super strong violet or other floral notes I associate with Petit Verdot often. 20 months in 25% new French oak provides a nice layer of additional vanilla and smokiness on the finish. Palate is everything you wanted with full-body, strong tannin, good bold fruit and fair acidity.

Surprisingly easygoing for a PV. Lots of fruit, some floral elements, not a lot of tannin and the bit I got was pretty velvety. Good stuff.
