Really lovely, and in the sweet zone - medium deep ruby w some staining, still looks v youthful - intense, savoury nose - smoke, herbs, blue berry pie - but palate is where it really shines - super smooth, balanced, great supporting acidity, a nice shell of tannin - right in the zone, and very tasty-savoury, fruity, long - Loire CF at its finest! I'd expect it to drink at this level for at least five more years.

not a great showing. a bit muddled, with density that is not supported by proper acidity or fruit character. pleasant, but i've had better bottles of this wine.

a really good showing. great raspberry fruit, rich and full. lots of mineral earth too. nicely balanced with good acidity. this is not a blow you away wine, but it's delicious and food friendly and rather complex. and at the under $20 price point it's a steal.

(Chateau de Hureau "Les Fevettes") This is their "1er Cru" wine per se. They make a "Village" wine, the "Les Fevettes" and the Grand Cru "Cuvee Lisagathe." The nose was promising with nice raspberry confit notes, tweed and lots of earthy mineral. The palate was rich, velvety and full of concentrated fleshy fruit. But there was a certain something lacking in the mid-palate and there also was alot of heat in this wine that continues right now as I sip it. It shows in a medicinal/ethanol type of heat. Maybe it needs age but usually heat does not go away. The tannins are there and the wine is balanced but the flavors and heat take away alot from this wine. Oh well you cannot win them all.

best bottle yet. graphite, ripe dark fruit, good tannic structure. this won't blow you away, but it's a high quality food friendly wine for under $20.
