Wow! Not the wine, but the wide variation in comments and community scores. People either love this wine or trash it. This was my first (and only) bottle and finally opened it after wondering about all the hype. Full bodied, inky, firm tannins with dark fruits, pepper, and vanilla. There is no complexity - one dimensional with lots of fruit. I considered giving this the "dreaded 89" score, but hesitated in consideration of the many fans of this wine, some of whom are my friends. There are much better Zinfandels for the price. Wine value $20 + $25 in marketing costs!

Symbolic, drinking the Prisoner 4 weeks to the day after my breakup with E. from... California and on Valentine's Day.
Unfortunately, this is rather a caricature. No finesse, big boned, overly fruity, nearly like fruit juice (blueberry dominant), overly oaked with overly toasted oak. A cross between a fruit juice and oak tea? I may be exaggerating, but then isn't this what this wine is all about? Exaggeration?
Anyhow, a matter of taste, but this is not remotely my taste. Fortunately, while in California I did taste better local wines, including some really nice and well balanced wines, but as a general preference, I still prefer old-world wines.
88 or so?

Très bien mais cher comme Q/P considérant le niveau de sucre résiduel, typique de la Californie mais qui est un peu limitatif somme toute

It tastes like a mass produced unsophisticated wine with sugar and flavours added chemically. Yuck. Glad I only paid $20 for a bottle.
