Surprised at how tasty this was. Vibrant and lively nose of crushed berries, tobacco, vanilla, and a hint of leather. Very new world and won't be mistaken for Bordeaux, but has just enough restraint on the palate. Some slight bricking, but taste wise, comes across younger than 05. Delicious!

Deep dark color. Lots of rich, concentrated fruit in the nose and flavor. Black cherries, blackberries, licorice and floral in the nose. Black currants, black raspberries and plums with hints of chocolate and minerality in the flavor. Well balanced, medium to full bodied, nice complexity, and a long smooth finish. 93-94

On the downslope. Some bricking. Nose is predominated by alcohol. Initially this tasted practically all stewed cherries and prunes. Let it breathe in the glass, and then the tobacco, cedar and moist earth notes came to the fore. This bottle was far more tannic than the last. Unbalanced and a bit too forceful.

Single blind. Nose has lots of ripe, rich black fruit with toasty brown sugar accents. Palate is rich and sweet. Just not my preferred style and feels discombobulated and hot.

(Robert Foley Claret) Inky-dark and mysterious, the purple-hued Claret boasts gorgeous aromas of blackberries, smoke, licorice, espresso, and spring flowers. Tremendously concentrated, with a voluptuous mouthfeel and sweet tannins. Winery Spotlight: Robert Foley Vineyards
