Rich mouthfeel, fully mature, moderate pop upon opening, surprisingly lively effervescence with the tiniest of bubbles, hint of sweetness but not overdone, still with resilient acid in the background, finishes with a noticeable and pleasant grip in the back of the throat. Sole bottle, purchased on release and stored for almost two decades in temperature controlled storage. Saved half and enjoyed over two days.

Magnum. Bottle in good shape and very fresh, but with a hint of corky note on nose. Quite acidic. Not nearly as complex as the 1995 Collection that I've rated a couple of times already.

1996 was one of the two most unusual vintages in the last century so I was delighted to be able to try a Moët & Chandon Champagne Vintage Millésime Blanc 1996. I was not disappointed – A good colour and very complex flavors with great length. The acidity level really brought it alive for me. On the palate it was full and fruity with notes of light biscuit and summer flowers. I was lucky the bottle was perfect and I am so pleased I got to try some bubbly from this stellar vintage year.

Minor oxidation on the nose. Advanced flavors of Carmel, butterscotch with some hints of baking spices. In spite of the advanced fruit the acidity is bright and adds to the experience. Yellow flowers. Moderate complexity. Overall a decent bubbly. Drink now.

I'm scoring this on what I can see the wine is about if it were a perfect bottle, despite this bottle having an edge of cork taint. Forward, fruit led nose with still fresh, juicy fruit on the palate, a bit of biscuit, and light oak toast. Good, but not great 1996. Shame about that bit of TCA
