Out of the cellar into the back pack, warmish but perfect to appreciate the vanillan polish of the powerful body. Flashy. Making a statement. Will later try again from fridge direct and addend.

Beautifully fine, clean, lemon and stone, elegant, flavours emerging with breathing. Pretty smart for a 1er cru. Burghound says begin to drink in 2027. I think that’s a good call - as usual. You could drink it today but that would be a waste. Opening and evolving in the glass.

2nd Bottle I have had of the 19 Valourent and the second time it has delivered the Chablis goods. I decanted it for 2.5 hrs, in which the essence a Granny Smith bounced around the decanter, some oceanic stuff too. We are in business. While there is some richness felt around the edges, this is very committed to being both energetic and spry. Beyond the just right amount of mid palate acidity, there is very tactical roll out of the wines mineral core, a bit of iodine, a hovering floral halo and really nice thrust on the lengthy finish. Taking Raveneau out of the equation, its wines like this that have at the top tier of the Chablis hierarchy. Plus with Diam 10 – I have no issues worry when pulling the cork as I have yet to have a premixed Fevre post 2010.

For a 1er this is really quite something. Meyer lemon over granite / cement minerality. Excellent balance and strong acidic spine. Excellent value and just straight up delicious. Score: 92. Relative to expectations: ++

Yellow pear, lemon zest with a hint of tropical ripeness. Steely chalky core.
