13% alcohol. Long cork with minimal inscription (not even the vintage or the producer) and about a quarter of wine penetration. Light colour with significant fading (but no bricking) at the rim. Very good nose of wild red berries, fragrant and refined. The mouth is in a similar vein, savoury and energetic with very good grip; good mouthfeel too. A bit hollow on the follow through though. This wine was comprehensively overpowered by a dish of pheasant; much better on its own afterwards, and I am basing this note on the last glass (or two). This bottle is still largely primary, so I assume that it could develop into something more complex.

A good village wine. Ripe red fruit, bright acidity, smooth texture. The Volnay elegance still comes through despite the lush vintage. Approachable now, but will continue to improve for several more years

On the deeper end of red ruby color. Good aromatics . What stands out here is rather big and broad cherry punch profile with some spice and minerality on the back of the palate. Offers identifiable terroir and overall is a pretty good value.
