Retail $125. 100% Zinfandel. Only available through wine club. I have to admit that I do not drink a ton of Zinfandel which is north of a hundred bucks a bottle. In fact, this is the first. I have to imagine that this is a "preaching to the choir" kind of wine; the only way you get your hands on this wine is if your late a member of the wine club. And you're only a member of the wine club, in the majority of cases, if you are a huge fan of the winery, so.... It is a solid wine. In fact, it is the type of Zin in my wheelhouse: reserved, understated, "Old World" in style. A buck and a quarter though? Um... Dried, ripe, and a bit stewed red and black fruit (cherry, raspberry, currant) with a bit of garrigue, clove, and white pepper. After a bit of time open, this gradually gets a bit bigger and fruitier, but it certainly falls into the "reserved" category. Excellent, maybe even Outstanding, but a buck and a quarter? thedrunkencyclist.com
