  • Even better tonight then the last bottle, short 1hr decant and this was singing. More burgundy esq than Sonoma RRV

  • This definitely was worth the hype, I decanted it approx 1.5hrs. I tried on PNP but needed the decant for sure It started to develop about 1.5-2hrs in. Had a great nose and an incredible finish. Similiar to a fine Burgundy. I’m happy I have 5 more bottles. I think I’ll wait to open my second.

  • Wow. This is easily one of the best wines I've ever had. I know it is consumed too young, but after reading the other note here and the notes on Pinot Files, I just had to try it. It started reticent - enough that I was worried. It still had a really lovely balance, but not dissimilar to a solid young 1er Burg. I let it air for about 4 hours before serving, though, and by the time we poured the fruit was there. This is one of those that just lingers with you - we had another two wines, I went home, brushed my teeth, went to bed, and woke up and could still taste this wine the next morning. This was easily the wine of the night and will probably be my wine of the year. I went deep on this and am excited to try it over the coming years and decades.

  • 12.8% alcohol. This is a total temptation of fate. The second-ever bottling of my It Wine. The wine that completely forced head-over-heels down the staircase of wine passion. From the second-oldest block of Trenton Estate, which is five-sided -- hence, Pentagon. How did it go? The fruit is so achingly pure it makes me want to cry. The nose took a little while to open, but it’s also a chameleon ... I’m getting a bit of floral even on it at this point, which normally I wouldn't expect from Trenton Estate at this point. Maybe a touch more oak presence on the finish than I recall on the 1997 at this stage, but my palate certainly is different, and apparently this is only 50% new oak, not 100% like the 1997. The finish is insanely long and persistent. I mean. It simply doesn’t end. This is a true legend. I haven’t had more joy spending such a long time with a bottle in many, many moons. What a true treat. This is a tour de force. A great, great wine. Worthy of every bit of its distinguished lineage. One of the great wines I’ve ever drunk. For sure. A+
