Wow. For this price, if I could have a wine this good every time I would never spend more than $25 on any bottles. This has aged gracefully and brnigs with it nice secondary and tertiary aromas of whiteflower and slate atop a nice core of apple and melon, with a long finish. Drinking beautifully now, with a nice finish, but will keep for at least another 5 years; perhaps may evolve a bit more but this is close to its terminal "good" phase.

Summertime Weekend; 6/2/2012-6/3/2012: This wine must've been stored perfectly because the label, the cork, the capsule, everything was in pristine condiction. And the wine itself, while showing the complexity of its years, is still surprisingly fresh and alive. Beautiful honey-lemon color with thick legs in the glass. Aromas of lemon oil, nougat, orange zest, smoky slate and petrol, just a lovely combination of mature Mosel riesling aromas. Over time, some lychee nut and pineapple came out as well. The palate has lots of juicy melon fruit, spritzy lemon flavors, fresh pineapple. Crunchy acid with an overall sense of precision. It's subtle in its approach, delicate even, while still maintaining concentrated flavors. Frankly, it's beautiful. The minerality is really attractive with its flavors of blue slate and sea salt. Those mineral flavors combine with a candied orange peel flavor on the long finish, which finishes with a kiss of acid. Superb stuff. Wish I had more. This wine is in a perfect place right now, and should probably be consumed soon.

Pungent mature riesling aroma of kerosene and sweet fruit. This is now soft and sweet on the palate, too, with no youthful cut left to it but the fruit still vibrant and fresh.

More precise than my last bottle, its bright white fruit, flowery spring-like aroma, and sharp acidity making it show much more youthfully than the 1990 beside it - remarkably so. Expands and turns creamier on the finish. But I still prefer this to the '90 for its acidity and more tensile construction.

Oily, waxy aroma builds in intensity with air. Just very slightly sweetish but the tame acidity makes a little go a long way, fortunately still enough acidity for a light crunch.
