Sauv Blanc Rivals Chard's Popularity (Farpointe Cellar): I really liked the nose on this wine. It had an interesting aroma of raspberry mixed with plum and candied cherries. Behind the fruit was some asian spice, oak, and vanilla. In the mouth, it was very smooth, There were tastes of red fruit, spice, and vanilla. The tannins were firm, and the finish was long.

Excellent but serious merlot. Inky, almost black. Leather and blackberry on the nose, with just a bit too much alcohol. Tannins a bit harsh on the palate, but should age nicely. Super long finish.

The wine was tasty, but certainly on the brink of becoming wasted.
