Good color and body, showing its age, perhaps past its prime, still very much within approachable drinking window - fill level, foil, label, and importantly the cork all in ideal condition, for its age. Dark garnet colored, medium-full bodied, concentrated, rich, complex yet elegant blackberry and black cherry fruits with notes of deep, perfumed, herbaceousness with concentrated currant, cedar and flavors of tea, leather and tobacco on a long, smooth finish.
Gift from a friend, dinner guest. Nose is intense, perfumed, could detect it from feet away after opening. No obvious signs of age, good color, depth, not a lot of amber. Cheery and cherry cola on the palate. Nice wine, fruit probably past its prime, but very enjoyable bottle. 90+points.

Diamond Creek night at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): Perhaps the most disappointing of the four tonight, but that's not really saying too much, considering the quality. The nose here was quite deep and perfumed, with lots of black fruit again, while the herbaceousness is a little more muted. The palate seemed a little empty and muted, and while all the elements were there, it didn't have quite the same density as the other three bottles. Despite that, this is still a very elegant bottle of cabernet.
Opened around 12 noon. Decanted around 3. Drank around 7. Was concerned! Tasted over time and it seemed watery and disjointed. By the time we actually drank it, it was great. Still drinking well. Who was the wine maker for that vintage?
