Famille Perrin tasting (Beef bar): Vin de France, coteaux d’Ardeche The grapes are mainly sourced from Coteaux d’Ardeche, vinification (in Tain L’Hermitage) and ageing in stainless steel, bottling takes place in the spring -//- The wine is quite explosive in the nose, floral with a lot of peach, apricot, sweet notes like honey and beeswax. In the palate, the wine follows the same pattern, medium to full body, there is tensity and nerve, ripe to overripe apricot and peach, wax, long finish Its fresh and vibrant

This is a very good wine. It had a 93 point floral and citrus nose and the front of the palate is excellent with a tropical fruit melange deserving of 90+, but I was slightly troubled by the bitterness at the back of the palate that went a bit too far beyond spicy Viognier and oeft a slight bad aftertaste. Following my rule that a wine at 90 or above must have no notable negative characteristics, this wine gets the dreaded 89, but Rebecca had less trouble with that and said it deserved a 91 because the rest of the wine was excellent.
