  • Brought this to a family gathering - everyone enjoyed it and thought it high quality in the blind setting.

  • Again, a light red - went well with a pasta dish with red sauce. Nothing special, but a solid food wine. Interesting and detailed flavor profile, not anything like any Rioja that I have ever tried.

  • Shared this bottle with another couple. Enjoyed this more than the previous bottles. Yes, the depth and concentration leaves something to be desired, but the Tempranillo character really came through and I found it pure and interesting (it helped that I had gone through a couple of bottles of 2015 Remelluri Reserva (classic Rioja) a few days ago to compare to.

  • Similar to the last bottle - nice, lighter style to go well with a variety of meals. Interesting drink, but lack of depth is very noticeable.

  • 13.1% abv. 1st bottle from a recent auction purchase.
Previous notes on this are pretty much spot on (though not sure about the "Shake Ridge" typicality, as this is the first wine I've tried from there). In any case, this is very dry, pretty lean, and has a good amount of what I'd call structure, with med+ acidity and med+ tannin. I will add that there's just not much depth (lack of fruit mentioned in a previous note) which leaves me wanting more. Also, does not evoke a Tempranillo vibe that we're used to from Rioja. Overall, though, it's a well-made red that went well with pasta and chicken. Reminds me of European simple "red table wine". I only paid $10/btl at auction for these, so well worth it, but at $40 (avg CT price), this just does not deliver, especially considering it's from Amador County, not exactly the domain of $40/btl "unusual" reds.
