Quick decant. Nose of raspberries, roses, violet, and light cedar. Sassy palate of dark cherry, cooked olive and leather leads into dusty earth, lengthy tannins, dark red fruits and a final tart note. Wine singly nicely tonight.

A sturdy yet expressive St. Joseph. I don't have the foggiest notion what the reference to Paris on the label means, but we don't need to concern ourselves with that here. Deep red, fully opaque even as it lightens to the rim. The nose is classy but quite subdued, even after an hour of air. Ripe blackberry, a shot of black pepper and olive, it doesn't jump from the glass but doesn't hide either. Juicy and medium bodied on the palate, with a suave finish that licks at the corners of my gum line.
There's an overall sense of tension and restraint here that I find quite attractive. It may loosen and get more expressive with a little bottle age, but I like it now too.

Nose of dark cherry fruit with a sharp peppery earth note. Plum, leather, and aggressive dried herbs attack the tongue in a narrow band, then the plum fruit expands across the tongue and adds mint notes. Prickly, young tannins with dark cherries, lingering pepper and a strong mineral drive. Needs a little more time in bottle. 91 points.

Garnet red. PNP and consumed over 3 nights; did not move much over that time. Very good medium-bodied syrah that should benefit from a couple years in the cellar but can be enjoyed now. Well made with fruity and savory notes. Nice wine.
