Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • {screwcap, 14.5%} Big, jubey, youthful wine. Some blackberry, but more raisin, plum, sultana without the sweetness. Very ripe. Too ripe? Warm, with low acidity, and gentle, low level gritty tannins, of the faintly oak-chip variety. But, hardly prominent in any case. The sheer ripeness gives it a vaguely scorched finish, a bit rustic and crude, shot through with alcoholic warmth, but - perhaps inevitably, given the overall style - finishing on the short side. Dry, at least, but a bit stretched. Not for cellaring.
