  • First night notes. Medium ruby color. The legs are medium thick but very, very slow. A very fresh nose with lots of citrus and some floral notes and warm loam lurking in the background. The initial palate is also very fresh and vibrant - citrus fruit and bright acidity. Nice concentration on the backpalate. Very balanced, well-proportioned wine. Not a lot of depth (maybe a little one-dimensional), but great length. I like my wines with some spine and a little grit, and this bottle was right in my wheelhouse. A well-made wine that has held up nicely. I love it. I'd drink wine like this every night if I could (but, then it'd lose some of it's excitement I suppose).

  • A stunning bottle. Color is a dark, opaque purple. Very slow, viscous legs. The nose is a beautiful melange of clean, fresh earth and full, voloptuous fruit, with a little dark chocolate and minerality on the fringes. The palate is truely brilliant: the aromas on the nose carry through to the palate and intermingle with a stellar mix of acidity and spot-on tannins (they flood the mouth, clense the palate, then clear out making way for the bodacious fruit). Absolutely no rough edges or bad notes. Best of all, it's a bottle that stands alone or goes great with food (drank it solo the first night, and paired it with a plate of assorted cheeses the second, and it rocked both times). It's like the best musical solo you can conjure in your mind. What a beautiful bottle of wine.

  • nose: tart and smokey nose of tones of dark plums, dark red cherries, spices, and bits of purple florals. Good depth with good tones right off the bat

taste: excellent medium feel with noticeable medium+ acidity and tones of smoke, dark red cherries, plums and lots of purple violets

overall: Very vibrant and showing itself to be fairly young right now. This was a straight pop n pour as my friend had said he wanted to try some oregon pinot with age on it. This could've used a decant in hindsight. This is a long distance runner of a pinot and should be amazing in another 3-5 years

  • Drank this with a competing Oregon winemaker. We both agreed that this was fantastic stuff. However Doug Tunnell does it we continue to marvel at how incredibly well his Pinot Noirs age. I would take all my Pinots I own (including many pricier ones) and trade them for the 99 Cinquante.
