  • PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“None” day): Medium garnet with slightly bricking rim.

On nose perfectly ripe and mature fruits with an assortment of red berries and cherries, fine herbs and spices. Some Chinese tea and soy too. Very slight hint of 'animale' and mushroom like aromas that adds to the complexity. Fully developed but still retaining some of the characters of the young fruits that enriches the bouquet, what a great achievement!

Very welcoming on the palate with good level ot acidity and minerality that adds to the freshness. But I am most impressed by its incredible vigour and opulence for a wine of this age and pedigree (after all, this is just a village level wine), especially when these are all shown with such elegance...

Really awe-inspiringly plush and fine on the texture too. Still good bite to the ripe tannins which is supported by its flavours and persistence to the finish.

I honestly do not think that there are many more bottles I tasted to date that exemplifies better that this what a well-aged Burgundy should be, not-to-mention that this is such a fine example from the Domaine.

This is truly magnificent that it almost brings tears to my eyes. 94-95 points.

(Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne-Romanée) I don't know, maybe it was the 4 days of furniture moving, or then again perhaps it was the two weeks of shiraz, malbec and merlot etc., but boy did this wine sing. Straight from the cellar (14°C), A lovely medium blood-red colour - just fading a little to the rim. The nose has spicy tertiary notes that surround a centre of currant, coffee, tobacco and high toned fruits. In the mouth there's perfect harmony - lingering acidity and only just fading drying tannins. The fruit has a compelling raspberry/strawberry complexion. Not very fat, but oh so fresh - really lovely - a village wine that transcends its appelation and the notion of numerical scores. I'd say this is only just entering its drinking window - with at least 10 years ahead to keep enjoying.
