Medium garnet color. Earthy mushroom and dark cherry nose. Tart cranberry and cherry on the palate. This is a really good stuff. Medium tannins and medium body. Will get even better with some age but good now!

Unmistakably Oregon PN: the lightness, strawberry and weird combo of fruit forward taste and stalkiness show through. What really sets this apart though is how gorgeous the burnt stalk smell and taste was in this, adding extra contours where in other cases it would just get in the way. Having had Walter Scott Chards as well as a Pinot now I would venture that this treatment of whole clusters (I think they say 30% but it tastes like more) and the unique toasted edge it gives to their wines are what makes their wines distinctive as well as delicious. I think I like their chards a little bit more. Score: 92-93. Relative to expectations: ++

This is definitely a lighter-bodied, elegant wine which possesses beautifully pure cherry fruit and a touch of that Oregon cranberry note. It's very Burgundian in style with juicy acidity and a taut, minerally finish. I can see how this could get lost in a comparative tasting or overwhelmed by strong foods but on its own, it's really a pretty, ethereal wine.

Nice. But very light bodied. Not really my style.
