Opened to slow ox for 4 hours and then decanted 4 hours prior to service. This was a much better bottle than the first, which was a leaker.
Light red in color. There was no alcohol heat to speak of. Medium sweetness, with flavors of cherries, fig, a bit of strawberry, and chocolate. Holding up amazingly well for what is basically an unfiltered LBV. A really good pairing with chocolate cake topped with Luxardo cherries.

Bottled in 1986. This bottle was a leaker. Upon decanting, the color was light reddish brown. The palate was sweet, with a bit of alcohol heat.
Three and a half hours later, the color hasn't changed. The palate is less sweet and the alcohol heat is mostly gone. Flavors of tart plums dominate. It's not an unpleasant drink. I have three more bottles that aren't leaking and have great fill levels, so I'm looking forward to trying them.

A night of Spanish wines (mostly RdD) (Scott and Jo's): This was bottled in 2002. Very interesting wine. Decanted for about 5 hours. The nose has dusty milk chocolate and some candied raspberries. A whiff of alcohol and also some camphor. On the palate, this has good strong raspberry fruit with some dark chocolate. Shows some age but I am not sure what vintages are in the bottle. Fun wine. This was served with a chocolate tort/cake that was probably the best pairing of the night (and that is really saying something). A real synergy.
