  • Opened 1 hour in advance and Vinturi used with the pour. The nose has some red and blue fruits with a smokey bacon quality. There is a creamy cola note as well. Pretty spring flowers show themselves in time. Palate has blueberry compote with red raspberries and strawberries. There is a very quiet mid-palate with a deft acidity that screams food. This is pure and graceful with a finely delineated framed structure. Some notes of warmed over river stones, leather and black peppercorns. A decent finish makes this a wine that can hold its head up, and while it won't 'wow' you, it will please the senses. This lives somewhere between a really good Cote Rotie and a nice St. Joseph. A great QPR for $20, I will save my next for a weekend day on my deck with my grill fired. This really needs something like a great burger or sausages.

  • Initial impression was of a fruit bomb. It reminded me of 06 Amon Ra. This faded after 15 minutes and shut down to not much of anything. It revived on the second night to a medium bodied dark purple wine. Some of the black fruits came back, along with violets, charcoal, and white pepper. Integrated tannins and alcohol. Hard for me tell if this is going to get better. My bottle may have been better last year.
