Very impressive, don't recall this wine being so gutsy, but it is quite big for a Pinot -- really taste that 14.5 alc, but it's not out of whack or disjointed. The wine showed inky with no bricking on the edge, just a lighter shade of purple. The nose was gorgeous and complex with plenty of ripe Bing cherry, cola, tea & sassafras, some leather, earth and spice lingering in the background. Excellent depth & concentration of flavors. There was not as much as acidity as I remember and frankly -- as much as I was hoping for, but it paired beautifully with an herb crusted pork loin with lingonberry glaze. I really enjoy all of Fred Scherrer's wine and came away very impressed and optimistic about this wine -- it has 5-8 yrs left (at least).

What can I say...excellent as always. Seems to be getting bigger as it ages. Lots of nice red and blue fruits, a lot of spice, a nice mouthfeel and finish. Fun to drink and yet reasonably thought provoking.

(Scherrer Winery Pinot Noir Fort Ross Vineyard "High Slopes") Lovely garnet red color with pale meniscus; roses and ripe black cherry nose; tasty, tart red fruit and ripe cherry palate; medium-plus finish
(Scherrer Winery Pinot Noir Fort Ross Vineyard "High Slopes") Blackish medium red color; very floral, sexy, vanilla, cherry and caramel nose; tasty, poised, ripe cherry and black cherry palate with depth and good structure; long finish (my WOTF and WOTS; last vintage from this vineyard)

Good, slightly metallic at the finish.

Great fruit, a bit metallic on the finish. Cranberries. Earthy and flinty.
