  • This wine is drinking beautifully. I enjoyed this wine with some cheese before moving on to a more concentrated Napa wine. This wine is savory with strong notes of herbs and spices while retaining a piercing mineral character. Offset all of that with a pleasurable acidity in the wine and Villaine’s ‘19 La Fortune is a great value if you can find it. Truly an elegant wine and, for me, the style of wine I want to drink everyday and enjoy. Overall: 89

  • Enjoyable Pinot, nothing too special.

  • This pours medium ruby in the glass with touches of purple at the rim. The nose is deep, concentrated and rich showing cassis, dark cherry, iron, animal fur, and occasional vague wafts of figs and prunes. The palate enters on dark cherry, and a touch of prune, showing medium minus tannin and medium minus acid. Alcohol really pokes out on the finish sadly. I didn't see that this was 14% alcohol when I bought it, but it's really showing based on what I'm tasting here. So far I've loved what I tasted of 2019 Red Burgundy, but this is edging on a bit too broad shouldered for me. I think I'll age out my other bottle to see where it goes. 87 today, but I could easily see movement up (or down).

  • Blueberry taste. Silky over tongue.
