  • Another Vire- Clesse.
On nose: muted, shy...faint notes of oak and stone.
On palate: above flavours, as well as light melon rind, granny smith apple, a touch of smoke and lemon peel.
A MUCH more restrained version of Vire- Clesse than the dramatic and complex Domaines du Bongrans 2010 tasted last week, from Thevenet....and only $10.00 a bottle more.....not bad....but I will stick with Thevenet for the price difference.

  • Pale lemon. Rich nose, ripe stone fruit, tropical hints, butter, caramel, vanilla, smoke, hazelnut. Developing. Dry, medium acidity, full body and medium+ alcohol, med+ finish. Very good quality, well made, classic mâconnais burgundy, sunny, rich but still with some freshness. Drink in next couple of years - unlikely to develop substantially.
