  • Better 10yrs ago, as it showed a rather dark dried fruit profile with smoked oak notes and dry tannins on the finish. Still has some nice lift and life on the palate.

  • So we met with some people at our local Italian BYOB (lots of them here in North Jersey) and I brought two bottles of wine. This and a 2004 Oreno. The cork fell apart upon extraction so they decanted the bottle through a cheesecloth. The nose was deep and brooding. The palate was earth, coffee and tobacco and perhaps a hint of bay leave. The finish was moderate to long. Served with the pasta dish. Drinking very well at 24 years old. It was my personal favorite but all of the other people favored the Oreno.91+

  • quick decant, still alive, got better after about an hour of air. nose has decent fig/prune, not too fragrant. deep ruby, lighter around the rim, no bricking. med+ body, med+ acidity. lots of aged dirty/earthiness but fruit seems to be waning slightly. picked up some fruitcake, bay leaf, graphite, diminished oak. tannins fully integrated softly drying, still some slight alcohol heat to the finish (10+ secs). not too complicated, could use more layers/depth.
enjoyed with chicken parm and garlic bread.

  • Medium garnet color. Clean nose, medium intensity, fully developed aromas of dried blackberry, figs, prines, toast, cinnamon, nutty and old bibliotheque. On palate dry, medium acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus intensity flavours of cinnamon, fig jam, and toast. Medium plus finnish. Very good quality. Drink now, but it can develop even further.
