Not overwhelming on the nose, but pleasing and typical Bordeaux notes with some complexity. Blackcurrant, graphite/minerals, a hint of oak and vanilla well integrated. Medium full in the mouth, acceptable fruit, some bitterness, a bit thin in the finish. Still in fairly good shape and good value, but this is the last bottle of this vintage.

Deep red colour. Bouquet of leather, oak, mocca and dark berries. A lot more oak, tannins and less fruity than the 2001. A wine for fatty pork like the Norwegian Christmas pork rib. Otherwise leave in the cellar for 3-4 years or serve chilled 13-15 C.

This wine delivers very good value for two reasons: firstly you get a real Bordeaux wine, with the Bordeaux nose and the typical flavors of the region for a really affordable price. Secondly, this wine does not need more cellaring. It is already open and inviting after about an hour of aeration. Aromas and flavors of creme de cassis, black fruit, smoke, cedar, and spices make this wine a pleasant experience to enjoy with food. Drink by 2010.
