  • Opened at Noble Rot in Mayfair. Served by Coravin.

This was stunning - for comparisons, even better than the St. Aubin 2019 last week; and better than the 2014 Caillerets a few weeks back. So nutty and toasty on the nose, with seasame and popcorn coming through. The palate wasn't quite as good as the nose but it really is so enjoyable: rich without being flabby and has enough acidity for good precision.

I'm so happy making my way through the L-C range. Reinforcing my opinion that despite the pricing on the secondary market, they really do know what they're doing, and I will continue to seek them out.

  • Fine mineral core, as you'd expect from the vineyard, complex and opulent, great length. Hint of anise on the back palate. Lovely wine within the restraints of the terroir.
Laughable price, whilst entirely not the producers fault, its a poster-child for everything that is wrong with Burgundy pricing at the moment.
Buying the likes of Lamy-Caillat and Bizot is akin to going all-in on the stockmarket around September 1929 lol.

  • A private lunch (Café De Klepel, Prinsenstraat 22, Amsterdam, NL): Not decanted, enjoyed over two hours. Very stony nose, mildly reductive, ripe but fresh orchard fruit with a delicate tropical edge, lemon curd, impressive concentration and depth; elegant attack, ripe but firm acidity, lovely tension and energy in the riper context of the vintage, wonderfully fleshy back palate (14% ABV), expansive finish with a light yeasty touch, very good but not great length. Impressive, in a good place already, good future.

  • There’s the generosity of the vintage here, coupled with the supreme tension and build of the maker. The white peach fruit is exquisitely pure. In the mouth the wine has a crystalline quality to it. Gentle aniseed spice plays quietly in the background. It is full and layered and so long, with excellent cut and detail.

  • Simply one of the best white wine ever tried. Elegant and pure. Perfect acid structure, slight reductive nose that morphed into a saline note.
