  • Medium+ nose intensity with notes of red fruits, red cherry, strawberry. Easy drinking and already on its drinking window. Will improve with ageing.

  • Confirms my belief that Bouchard makes wines that are easy to like - too easy. This is certanly a crowdpleaser.
Perfect introduction to the district, but not so much more. Beaune? Could be from anywhere in Bourgogne. Very true to the modern style at Bouchard.

  • This pours light ruby in the glass with pink towards the rim. The nose opens with intensely concentrated red fruit: strawberry, candied cherry, pomegranite, crushed rocks, lightly herbaceous bay leaf, cardamom, rose petals, tangerine, and a light touch of cherry liquor. The palate is very concentrated with loads of rich red fruit on entry, medium tannin and medium acid, but the structure really plays second fiddle to the fruit here. The finish shows the rich fruit balanced against light whisps of spice. The finish is quite long with lingering gobs of fruit. All in all this is quite a wonderful bottle of wine, very driven by its large scaled and open fruit. On the other hand the high alcohol and fruit do give this a bit of liquor note that's not my preferred concept of Red Burgundy, so we'll have to see how age treats this.

  • NR as this seemed very closed (or without much body?)... glad I only had one in the cellar -- and had put the other four in offsite storage... if I'm smart (unusual) I'll wait fifteen years on the next bottle and then cross my fingers (this is an appellation / vineyard that I only bought due to finding some nice 1990 Chenu-Lefebvre bottles a bit back)... ADD'N -- wow, just read the other notes, seems their bottles were full of fruit, not mine?!?
