The HCDN from Amelie is consistently great year after year. I've had the 2019 4 times since release and I feel the wine is quite shut down at the moment. Sure it is still perfumed and expressive on the nose with loads of cherry, tea shop, sweet tobacco, dried rosemary, lilies and raspberry jam. But on the palate it's a lot more austere and bitter, lacking the usual depth and elegance. I opened 2 bottles to be sure it wasn't an off bottle, but the wine just seems to be in an awkward spot. 18 shows a lot better at the moment.

This is the best $30 Bourgogne you can drink. Beautifully ripe 2019 red cherry fruit. Fresh, earthy, and a touch of reduction. You can drink this all day.

My first of 3 & quite impressive for mere Bourgogne which as a designation increasingly seems underrated across the board as I run across more & more fine examples. This is not remotely rustic nor simple. This is weightlessly elegant, suave w/ lovely red fruit showing excellent purity. Minerality & spice abound. Delighted I bought 3! Usually start w/ 1 btl when exploring a new producer. Alc 13% 92+ Paid $35, drinks like $60+. Gave this a 3hr slow ox B4 dinner in my 2 burg glasses & btl. I only use Burg glasses for Burgundy.

Imponerende HDCN!

This is a simple, and lovely Pinot Noir… red fruited, tart, lightly spiced, easy.
