  • A blend of indigenous white varieties. I understood the wine hasn't seen any oak during the vinification. 12% alcohol. Total production approximately 2000 bottles. Tasted blind.

Medium-deep and ever-so-slightly hazy straw-yellow color. The nose feels evolved and quite complex with aromas of exotic fruits, some nutty oxidative tones, a little bit of ripe nectarine, light notes of hay, a hint of apple jam and a touch of wool socks. The wine feels firm and structured on the palate, somewhat concentrated by the age, yet still only medium in body. There are complex, evolved flavors of stony minerality, some nutty tones, a little bit of bruised apple, light notes of hay, a hint of lemony citrus fruit and a tertiary touch of cooked cream. The high acidity lends great sense of freshness and focus to the wine. The finish is crisp, long and lively with a complex aftertaste of sharp Granny Smith apple, some evolved creamy tones, a little bit of steely minerality, light nutty oxidative nuances, a hint of sweet exotic fruits and a touch of hay.

An excellent, crisp and wonderfully evolved Douro white that is now at its peak. The wine is remarkably fresh, low in alcohol and high in acidity for a Douro - I wonder if they are even able to make wines like this there today? Lots of depth and character here. Probably at its plateau of maturity now, unable to really evolve any further from here, but doesn't seem to be falling apart anytime soon. This is just lovely stuff; highly recommended.

  • Opened this at a party, so I didn’t take proper tasting notes. Color was a deep yellow straw color with a phenomenal nose and fantastic all around. Took about 10 - 15 minutes to open in the glass and was still punching strong two hours later. This is up there with some of the best white burgundies I’ve ever had. A very pleasant surprise out of Portugal and something I highly recommend.
