  • Lemon and lime peel, pale, lean, minerally and fresh. Good for this price point.

  • Apparently from three sites planted in the 1960s - all well regarded for Chardonnay - Goudelette, Gollardes and Saucours. Quite pale lemon. Subtle nose of citrus - very elegant. Salty on the palate with similar flavors of lime, lemon and tart apple as on the nose. Distinctly not Meursault - less exuberant and more citrus. A little spice. Ripe but not conspicuously so. Admirable restraint throughout. There is some mid palate body here but enough acid to keep the wine fresh and give it movement over the palate. The old vines show in the impressive length - showing some expansive power and a slight pleasant bitterness at the very end. I think this is very good indeed and very fair value. But I confess to liking the slightly leaner flavor profile of whites from this part of the Cote. Will keep of course and likely develop more complexity. But it is delicious today.

  • Beautifully restrained nose of citrus and delicate florals. Vibrant on the palate. Not Puligny nor Meursault nor Chassagne - this has the thread of Corton Charlemagne in it. One senses the light. Almond. Something slightly herbal. Really good intensity of fruit from the old vines. Above average length for village level. Lacks just a little acid to give real lift, but that is the vintage. This is very true to Savigny, whose whites I find of considerable interest, because the flavor profile is so different from the wines from further south. Authentic to it's origins. Reflects the vintage. Fine. Wait three years
