First bottle from a three bottle lot purchased from the Dutch importer in 2021. Clos des Mouches is a small, walled Monopole just south of Les Santenots in Meursault planted in 1949 with Pinot Fin vines. Fermented with 40% whole bunches. Light and bright style, floral and elegant, gently stemmy, supple and juicy, attractive hints of undergrowth and spicy oak, quite Teutonic in style, pure and transparent, creamy strawberries, fresh acidity, energetic and peppery finish with good length and a hint ot matcha. Drinking well now, should have the energy to last for another decade or so.

Blind night. Red from Meursault, this is very different! Almost Gamay like, very juicy red fruit, strawberries, sweet raspberries. Kind of light on its feet, not much depth but enjoyable. Low/med- tannins, this thing is an early drinker. Great balance.

Nice and sweet red fruits with creamy oak on nose. Palate of lovely sweet fruit. Sweet ripe raspberry and strawberries with some black pepper along with spices and touch of cream from the oak. Refreshing acidity. Good balance and actually quite complex. Developed nicely in glass too.
Thoroughly enjoyed this over lunch at a restaurant in Meursault itself and then was amused to see Jancis Robinson's note "This is the sort of wine you'd be very happy to drink in a Burgundy restaurant at lunchtime..."

PnP. Crunchy and red with some spices. Tart cranberries and some stem influence. Drinking very nicely and well balanced. Leaner than the Nuits reds in a nice, classic way.
