From a TWS growers champagne mixed case (purchased 2023, £33.81 pb). 50% PN, 25% CH, 25% Pinot Blanc Vrai. Harvest 2020. Disgorgement April 2023. 12.5% ABV. Fine, persistent mousse. Fresh nose with decent complexity, showing cider apples, lemon granita, something floral, something herbal, a bit of yeast. Clean and focused on the palate, a nice acid zing which doesn’t dominate but enhances. Good length with a hint of honey-lemon on the finish. Nice.

Very fine bubbles, good sparkling quality, quite focused and very thirst-quenching. This is where my enjoyment started and ended really. I can appreciate that some probably like this linear style of champagne, but I don't. For me this was excessively acidic and taut, without any secondary flavours at all and certainly none of the nutty, yeasty or biscuity notes I so enjoy in Champagne. Instead this bottle was extremely apple and citric dominated, and to that end was quite one-dimensional. The merchant notes said "complex and generous" which I felt to be about as far away from my experience as is possible. A blend of three grapes - 50% PN, 25% PB and 25% Chardonnay. The bottle was not finished, which kind of says it all. At least it wasn't expensive.

Bulles fines moelleuses, poire et meringue, je m’attendais à quelque chose de moins sucré vu l’appellation « Extra Brut ». Dégusté avec des huîtres. Manque de mineralité à mon goût.
