  • Deep ruby with high optical density and medium, slightly diffuse reflectivity. Aromas of dried flowers, potting soil, and delicate red berry fruit and some smoky character.

On the palate, light to medium body, fresh acidity, and some tannic grip on the back end that lends structure. Overall, a light mouthfeel with a broad presence. Flavours of dirt and stone on the attack with some lighter, mostly faded (but in a good way to me) red fruits lying underneath. The midpalate shows a subtle green note and some forest floor mushroom that adds onto the soil and fruit, along with delicate floral flavours. Finishes clean and short, with some very light cherry and dirt-covered stone, along with a slight bitterness. Surprising elegant complexity here.

This is just delightful wine, not a fruit-forward or light and easy-going Beuajolais. It has definitely aged to a point where the primary fruit is in the background, and that can be a good thing. For me, it certainly is. Very interesting and has aged just beautifully- this is not a juicy fruit-forward wine at this point, and instead, can be appreciated for a lot of subtle and interesting notes. Well-balanced and interesting, so while the fruit is faded in character, this has done well to this point, and even gains some interest with time in the glass. Not a crowd pleasing wine, but one that will reward a thoughtful approach, and pair with a wide range of foods. Balance and grace, with stone, earth, mushroom, and light fruit are the themes here. Love it!
