Absolutely wonderful bottle, with a strip label saying it was in an off-license Est. in 1700 London, and then second strip label says it was sold by Christie's in London. The bottle looked exactly how one would expect after spending 3/4ths of a century in a damp London cellar. Fill was at base of neck (<2 cm ullage). Nose had some mustiness that rapidly evaporated and left with something that resembled a 1959 Bonnes Mares from a top producer. A surprising amount of fruit left on palate, but more dark fruit than cherry. Incredible bottle from 1945 that reinforces why the vintage may be the best Bordeaux vintage in the last 125+ years.

Avery Family Cellar Inaugural Wine Dinner - Really old wines (Eddie V's - Tysons Corner, VA): Intense nose displaying raisin, sour cherry, blackberry liqueur, a hint of VA via Balsamico, cedar, sous bois and earth. Excellent concentration, nicely layered, slightly dry dark fruit and VA driven palate impression, bright acidity and a long finish with a hint of VA at the end. The VA and raisin in the nose reminds me a bit of the Ximenez 1927 but less sweet. With air, VA seems to dissipate, improving the nose significantly.

Mature and Maturing Bordeaux (Oslo): From a very cold cellar where it had been laying since release. The more disappointing that it was a bit unclean on the nose, some astringency, good fruit, but I have had better bottles.

Řstkantsmaking: IN fill. Kork kom hel ut. Ubegripelig bra farge for alderen: Dyp rød med purpurskjær uten bruning i kanten (!) Nydelig nese med overraskende friskhet og mild sødme. Kjølig og frisk, dyp frukt. Slank. Finkornede tanniner. Sursøt avslutning. Kan fremdeles ligge lenge.

Seven Decades of Right Bank Wines (Trondheim, Norway (my house)): Bottom neck fill. Cork very pretty, come out in one piece. Brilliant and dark colored, could be from the 80’s. Opens up after a while, red meat, bonfire, forest floor, dark berries; long and very intense in the mouth, tannins still very present, enormous freshness and elegance. Pristine specimen. 30+ more years. 95+p
