  • From glass, blind. Between what was revealed to be another burgundy and a new world pinot, this had the deepest, least red, most purple coloring - but not especially concentrated. Also the least "transparent" nose: cloudier, darker fruit, some tobacco and ash, some paint, and eventually a nice, high blackberry. Palate consistent with nose, but also some noticeable meatier notes. Relatively fresh, some drying, slightly grainier tannin on finish. Had reason to believe this was a second- or third-day glass (it was), so went with a syrah blend from Languedoc - being reminded of one I recently had. Wrong, but that's the kind of pinot it was for me. Very good.
